With the release of one or two films a year, the filmmaker and musician is one of the most prolific in French cinema, and the latest absurdities of him (“Incredible but true”Smoking makes you cough) have shown that Dupieux tends to age well. The teaser for ““Yannik” :

Accustomed to big castings, Quentin Dupieux has resorted this time Pio Marmai (“The Three Musketeers”, “In Body”), Blanca Gardin (which the filmmaker already directed in “Smoking makes you cough), and the revelation Rafael Quenarddiscovered this year in ““Break dog” and ““I will always see your faces” notably.

Our opinion :

In the middle of a performance of the play “Le Cocu”, on a very bad boulevard, Yannick gets up and interrupts the show to take over the evening…

For a film made in secret, with an ultra-limited budget and produced in record time in parallel to the production of “Daaaaaali!”“Yannik” surprises with its quality! With this closed door where everything happens the economy (a unique location, a handful of characters and a sober staging), Quentin Dupieux shows us that he is comfortable with all genres. With just over an hour on the clock, the film is consistently hilarious and it owes that to its incredible performer. Because yes, the movie wouldn’t have been as good without Rafael Quenard. The revelation of 2023 carries the film on his shoulders and establishes himself as a great actor. He stands out for his thick accent and his jokes. UFO in French cinema and the filmmaker brilliantly exploits his talent.

His phrasing, his dialogues, his reactions, everything’s fine. Inevitably we ended up getting attached to this not-so-crazy misfit, who just wanted to have a good time. And although the film is only made up of a series of deaf dialogues in which Yannick wants to make his opinion heard and to do so he takes the entire room hostage, the film is never repetitive and always finds a way to reinvent itself. Yannick It is the pleasant surprise of summer. Nobody expected it, but you will all love it.

In which nearby theaters is the film shown? Yannick ?
